Day6 for their Way to Trip 2025 Season's Greetings (source: @day6official on X)

DAY6 is a Korean pop-rock band formed under JYP Entertainment, who debuted on September 7, 2015, with their song Congratulations. Each member is involved in every step of the production process, from writing the lyrics to creating the melodies, making every track a banger. After almost six years since their last concert in the Philippines, they will be performing at the Araneta Coliseum on February 22, 2025, for their 3rd World Tour Forever Young. But before the concert, you can get to know them through their songs below:

1. When you love someone

With their soft voices and heartfelt lyrics, this song is one of the most highly recommended tracks from DAY6. For starters, I’d say you should definitely add this to your playlist—it’s top-tier (at least for me) in their discography.

The song talks about the things you do for someone you love just to make them happy and see them smile. It also emphasizes loyalty—being there for that person when they need you, even when things get tough. From the title itself, it reflects what it truly means to love someone. It captures the feeling of wanting to take away all their sadness or pain just to keep their smile, even though, in the end, all you can do is stay by their side.

2. For Me

A song about oneself. A song about understanding yourself and choosing to love yourself this time. For Me is the first track of their 5th mini album, The Book of Us: Gravity, released in 2019. From the lyrics, this song addresses being thankful to oneself for not giving up during difficult times, for continuing to fight and move forward, and for holding on despite the struggles and challenges life throws at us.

It’s as if this song was made for those who keep going in life, reminding them to give themselves some love and a pat on the back for not giving up. It’s a reminder that you deserve the same love and care you give to others and that it’s okay to choose yourself sometimes.

3. All Alone

Based on the lyrics, this song talks about longing for someone—someone who would say, “You did great today,” ask about your day, or simply wish you well. These simple words make a big difference, especially when you’re feeling down.

The sad melody perfectly matches the heartfelt lyrics, and the instruments come together to create a beautiful, emotional song. It’s a perfect choice for when you’re feeling low and can’t find the words to express your feelings.

4. Congratulations

Imagine going through a breakup, and just days later, you see your ex with someone new—laughing and carefree—while you’re still trying to move on. Painful and frustrating, right? This song perfectly captures that feeling.

From the guy’s perspective, it talks about betrayal and heartbreak as he watches the girl move on so quickly. The chorus sarcastically “congratulates” her, mocking how she can be fine while he’s still hurting.

With powerful instrumentals, especially the strong bass and drums, plus amazing vocals and Young K’s rap, this song is a masterpiece. It even has an English version along with You Were Beautiful.

5. Happy

This track is part of their 8th mini album, Fourever, released after a three-year military hiatus. This has become popular with other artists as well and even DK of SEVENTEEN released a cover of it.

The song reflects on the desire for happiness, with the character expressing worries about being happy and what might come after. Through questions like “May I be happy?” and “Will I ever truly be happy?”, it explores the struggle of finding joy without fear or hesitation.

Young K shared that he hopes listeners feel less alone when hearing this song, reminding them that others share similar thoughts and struggles. (from Park Sungjjin’s S2 EP 15/16 - DAY6 Comeback).

6. I’m Serious

This song is perfect for expressing your feelings to someone who doesn’t seem to notice you like them. The lyrics tell the story of someone trying to get their crush’s attention, doing everything they can to show their feelings, but the other person either brushes it off as a joke or remains completely clueless.

It captures the frustration of trying to confess and not knowing what else to do to make the message clear. If you’re in that situation, sending this song might just be the way to get your feelings across!

7. Marathon

Many of us see life as a race, feeling pressured when we see others our age—friends, family, or acquaintances—getting ahead. We might question ourselves, wondering when our time will come or if we’ll ever reach the same milestones.

DAY6 reminds us in Marathon that life isn’t a race. It’s okay to go at your own pace, take your time, and not rush things. Your journey is your own, and it’s important to stop comparing yourself to others. Your time will come.

The song also encourages us to rest when needed and not to rush, because the pressure to do things quickly might lead to regret. Take things easy—you’re doing great, and it’s okay to take your time than to regret it later, right? So don’t you run run run and take things easy. You’ve worked hard and you're doing great!

8. Zombie

Do you ever feel tired of the same routine every day—waking up, going through the motions, and then going back to bed? Zombie perfectly captures that feeling. Released during the pandemic, this song hit especially hard as we found ourselves stuck at home, repeating the same tasks over and over with little change.

The music video reflects this sense of monotony, with the character stuck in a daily cycle, going to work and doing the same things every day. The beat of the song gives off a low-energy vibe, mirroring the exhaustion and boredom that come with the mundanities of life.

Choosing songs to recommend was honestly tough because all of DAY6’s tracks are amazing. Other songs that deserve to be at the top are “days gone by,” “hurt road,” “How to Love,” “Healer,” and “Shoot Me.” They truly are a superband deserving of all the recognition they get. From composing their songs and writing the lyrics to creating the melodies, DAY6 has earned every bit of their success and popularity.

I believe DAY6 has the answer to every emotion you feel when words fall short. Just listen to their songs, and you’ll find the exact words for what you’re going through. I’m so proud of all their achievements, and it makes me so happy to see other artists, like Seventeen, appreciating their music. It’s well-deserved! <3

I’ve been a K-pop fan since 2010, and U-Kiss was the first K-pop group who got me into K-pop. I’m a multifan (main fandom: E.L.F), but I’m currently into Seventeen. To be honest, EXO got me into writing, specifically fan fiction. From then on, my passion in writing grew and I started to write stories, poems, articles, and blogs, and even joined our school publication back in college. The lyrics of the different K-pop songs I listen to have also been one of the reasons I love writing. It inspires me to write because it is where I can fully and truly express myself and share my thoughts with people.
