NCTzens were taken by surprise after SM Entertainment announced Jaehyun’s upcoming military enlistment. After recently releasing a solo album, Jaehyun is now preparing to serve in the military. According to SM Entertainment’s official statement, Jaehyun will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the army on November 4, 2024. He is expected to discharge on May 3, 2026.

"Hello. This is SM Entertainment.

NCT Jaehyun applied to the Army Band and received a notice of acceptance from the Military Manpower Administration today. He is scheduled to enlist as an active-duty soldier on November 4th and fulfill his military service.

As the day of his enlistment at the basic training camp will be attended by many soldiers and their families, there will be no separate official event to prevent safety accidents due to the crowding on site.

We ask for your continued support and love until Jaehyun completes his military service and returns in good health.

Thank you."

As soon as the news broke, Jaehyun sent a message to bubble to reassure NCTzens.

"Hi how have you been?

You must have been surprised by the sudden news, but I will be enlisting in November I wanted to briefly share my thoughts with Czennies, so I decided to write this message.

I'm once again filled with gratitude for the precious memories, the meaningful relationships, and the immense love I've experienced, which I wouldn't have known if not for this career.

I've always moved at my own pace until now, and I'm so thankful and full of love for your trust and for moving forward together with me.

Though I say with words that I'll be back soon and ask you to wait just a little, I'm sure I'll miss you I will return healthy, so you all need to stay healthy in both body and mind as well.

I'll keep living diligently, reflecting on the memories we've shared and looking forward to the journey we'll continue together "We're unconditionally timeless"

Jaehyun will be the second member of NCT to enlist, following Taeyong, who began his service in April and is currently part of the Navy’s military band.

Although this makes us all sad, this is an inevitable part of his journey. As Jaehyun’s fans, the best we can do is wish him a safe and fulfilling service.

While we’ll miss him, we can always listen to the album he left us. If you haven’t grabbed a copy yet, we still have it available in our shop!
