Take a seat, classmates! The recap of our special class is about to start.
Last Sunday, November 3, CNA K-Pop attended HORI7ON's "Daytour: Anchor High" concert at the Mall Of Asia Arena, organized by DNM and MLD Entertainment and co-presented by JBL Philippines. This marked the boys' major solo concert following the success of their Friend-SHIP: Voyage in Manila in September 2023.
Experiencing a live concert from an all-Filipino global pop group was a breath of fresh air. Unlike K-Pop concerts that often have language barrier and require translators, this concert felt more accessible and personal. Don't get us wrong, every K-Pop concert creates a special moment between idols and their fans, but attending one from a Filipino-speaking global group hits a little bit closer to home. We even had the chance to interview some Anchor "classmates" at the venue, and many of them have been supporting HORI7ON since their beginnings on Dream Maker. We, for sure, had a blast interacting with them!
As soon as HORI7ON took the stage, the energy in the arena became electric. The entire room came alive when the group opened the show with their latest track, Sumayaw Sumunod, the entire room came alive. They showcased powerful vocals and choreographies that energized the crowd while setting the bar high.
Their setlist included songs like Lucky, Salamat, Mama, Dash, Lovey Dovey and Six7een. Of course, they did not come to play. Each member delivered impressive performances that highlighted their growth over the years and their passion for their craft. However, the solo stages that caught our eye was Reyster's emotional interpretative dance to Bruno Mars' "Die with a smile." His breathtaking performance perfectly captured the raw and vulnerable emotions that gave the song justice. The other two highlights for the team were Winton's and Vinci's performances; Winston, who serenaded the crowd with his cover of "Off my Face," and Vinci, whos soulful rendition of "Falling" left us all in awe.
The boys also performed two upcoming new songs: “Cold,” composed by their maknae, Marcus, and their leader, Vinci, and “Too Cool to Care,” also written by Marcus, all for the love of their Filipino Anchors.
The “ANCHOR HIGH” theme shone through with clever segments that made you feel like you were back in a classroom, cheering for your favorite classmates. One of the most fun moments had to be the spelling game, showing their silly, playful side and kept everyone laughing.
As the concert neared its conclusion, HORI7ON shared heartfelt letters they’d written to Anchors, showing their gratitude, creating a touching moment that resonated throughout the arena.
The night wrapped up on a high note with Birthday, an energetic track that left everyone buzzing. The boys maintained their enthusiasm and high energy from start to finish.
If you haven’t seen HORI7ON live yet, you’re truly missing out. They’re not just performers—they’re artists with incredible talent, charisma, and potential. Watching them live is an unforgettable experience. These boys absolutely deserve all the recognition for their hard work and dedication, and we’re thrilled to have witnessed their successful second concert.
If we're being honest, we were only casual listeners of the group before the concert started, but we left the arena in awe of their talent and passion. Consider us baby Anchors!
